Our Team

It takes a team to make a company successful and ChinaBio® is no different.  Following are short biographies of some of our key team members.

Management Team

Greg B. Scott - President and Founder (China)

Greg is an entrepreneur, angel investor and business advisor who has helped launch over thirty life science companies in the U.S. and China. He founded ChinaBio LLC in January 2007 to identify and develop early stage life science companies in China and has helped raise over $400M in government and VC funding. ChinaBio also works with U.S. and European companies including Pfizer, Roche Diagnostics and Life Technologies, helping them identify and secure acquisitions, partners and novel technologies in China. ChinaBio has organized over 20 events in China including ten investment conferences and three Partnering Forums. Greg also leads ChinaBio Capital Partners' merchant banking operations in China.  He is also president and co-founder of Life Science Angels, an angel investment group that has funded 37 biotechnology and medical device companies in the U.S. and China, and Executive Editor of ChinaBio® Today, which is the most widely read publication on China's life science industry.  Greg lives and works in Shanghai but visits the U.S. several times a year to enjoy California’s blue sky and sandy beaches.

Dongxu (Don) Qiu, PhD, MBA - General Manager, Consulting (China)

Dr. Don Qiu leads ChinaBio's consulting and research activities in China. Don brings extensive management experience in the biotech industry, including research, product development, business development, operations, technology transfer, and venture capital. He was previously CEO/GM of several China-based biopharma companies, and currently serves on the board of companies in Shanghai and Tianjin.  He holds a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry from Peking University and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business, the University of Western Ontario.

Tom Wu - Events Director (China)

Tom Wu leads ChinaBio's conference business and has been responsible for all of our events since 2008. He brings many years of experience with cross-border organizations interfacing with China business, having previously run conference and publishing efforts for companies in Canada and Australia. Mr. Wu holds a Masters Degree in Management and Marketing from Nottingham Business School in the UK. He also received the Project Management Certificate from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Jean Meng - Business Director (China)

Jean Meng was our first employee and runs ChinaBio's business operations.  She is the key representative with suppliers supporting our events and all of our efforts in China.  Prior to joining ChinaBio®, Ms Meng had several years experience helping launch startup companies in China.  Jean graduated from the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology.

Richard Daverman, PhD - Business Editor, ChinaBio® Today (U.S.)

Dr. Daverman brings over 25 years of investment management and publishing experience to ChinaBio® Today and leads the development of our editorial content. Dr. Daverman has been an editor and author for business and scientific publications including the BIOMASS Group, Business Tennessee, AtTheClose.com, and Execucom. He also has experience as a financial manager and stockbroker for Prudential-Bache and Robert Thomas Securities. Dr. Daverman received his PhD from University of Michigan and served on the faculty of Texas A&M University and Universite d'Angers (France).

J. Christopher Mizer, MBA, CPA - Managing Director (U.S.)

Chris Mizer leads ChinaBio's merchant bank in the U.S.  He has led over 120 transactions as investment advisor or principal in the U.S. and China.  Chris is also the president and founder of Vivaris, Ltd., a U.S.-based private equity fund focused on life science.  He was previously Vice President in the investment banking division of Key Corp and began his career with Ernst and Young.  Chris earned BS and MS degrees in Biology and an MBA from Case Western Reserve University.  Chris is based in San Diego.

Ian Wisenberg - Managing Director (U.S.)

Ian Wisenberg serves as ChinaBio's chief liaison with key executives and investors in the U.S.  Formerly Senior Vice President and CFO of BIOCOM, the largest regional life science association in the US, Mr. Wisenberg also led BIOCOM's Capital Development initiative and built its "VC incubator" in San Diego.  He brings over 25 years of experience in international finance, business development and administration, and serves on the board of two biotech companies.
